The flexible pump, also known as the flexible rotor pump or the flexible impeller pump, is a type of rotor pump among positive displacement pumps. The following is a detailed introduction to the flexible pump:
Working Principle
There is an eccentric bump in the pump chamber. When the flexible vanes move away from the eccentric bump, the volume between the vanes continuously increases, creating a vacuum that enables the liquid to be continuously sucked into the inlet part of the pump chamber. As the flexible vanes rotate, the liquid is carried from the suction part of the pump chamber to the discharge part. When the flexible vanes come into contact with the eccentric bump again, they bend and are accompanied by a squeezing action, allowing the liquid to be continuously and pulsation-free discharged from the pump chamber, thus completing the entire process of suction and discharge.
Structural Characteristics
Core Component: The flexible rotor is the core component of the flexible pump. It is generally made of materials with good elasticity and small permanent deformation, such as food-grade nitrile rubber, ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber, etc., and can withstand long-term high-frequency flexing without breaking or tearing.
Overall Structure: It usually includes components such as the pump cover, axial outer liner plate, flexible rotor, bearing, mechanical seal, oil seal, pump shaft, and axial inner liner plate, and its structure is relatively simple.
Product Advantages
Strong Self-priming Ability: It has excellent self-priming performance. The dry self-priming can reach a certain height. For example, the dry self-priming of some flexible pumps can reach 6 meters, and the self-priming with materials is also relatively high, and the self-priming time is short, enabling it to complete self-priming instantaneously.
Small Volume and Large Flow Rate: Under the same flow rate, it has a smaller volume compared with other types of pumps, which is convenient for installation and movement and can effectively save the space of on-site equipment.
Energy-saving and High-efficiency: It consumes less power under large flow rates. Compared with other pumps under the same flow rate, it is more energy-efficient and can reduce operating costs.
Wide Range of Transported Media: It can transport high-viscosity media, gas-containing liquids, foam liquids, and media containing suspended hard and soft particles, etc., which can meet the transportation requirements of various media in different industrial fields.
Stable Operation and No Noise: It operates relatively smoothly with low noise, and is suitable for working environments with high noise requirements, such as indoor installations.
Simple Maintenance and Low Cost: Its simple structure and modular design make maintenance extremely easy. Generally, no professional maintenance personnel are required, and there are few wearing parts, resulting in low maintenance costs.
Application Fields
Chemical Industry: It can be used to transport corrosive media such as weak inorganic acids, organic acids, alkaline solutions, oil products, and various inorganic solvents.
Food Production: It is suitable for transporting various food slurries, media with high requirements for mixing uniformity, and gas-containing media, which can ensure the purity and taste of food. For example, it plays an important role in the production processes of jams, fruit juices, etc.
Pharmaceutical Industry: It can transport some high-viscosity and high-solid-content liquid medicines that are difficult to flow, meeting the special requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.
Environmental Protection Field: It is commonly used to transport various sewage, wastewater, and sludge media, and is widely applied in sewage treatment and environmental protection equipment.
Other Industrial Occasions: It can be used for liquid suction and discharge, sampling, and the transportation of various fluids and semi-fluids in barrel emptying, bin sweeping, underground cisterns, etc., and can widely replace centrifugal self-priming pumps, submersible pumps, gear pumps, single-screw pumps, and other pump types.
