Common faults and solutions of rotary pumps

Publication time:2024-08-02

Definition of Rotary PumpRotary pumps are used to transport water, wastewater, sewage, mud, viscous liquids, etc. They consist of a housing, rotor, wear-resistant plate, and mechanical seal. As a non-contact and rotary positive displacement pump, the rotary pump has become an indispensable product in the pump industry and wastewater management technology field today.

Working principle of rotary pump

Two rotors move relative to each other under the drive of two parallel axes, forming sealed chambers between the rotors and the pump casing. The twisted blade rubber cam rotor pump is the core, and two spiral cam rotors that continuously rotate under synchronous gear drive are used to push the conveying medium from the pump inlet to the pump outlet. Due to the sealing between the rotor rubber impeller and the pump body, the inlet and outlet chambers of the pump are separated and have vacuum suction force. Due to the use of a three bladed 60 ° spiral rotor, the instantaneous design flow rate of the pump at each moment during one rotation is constant, with almost no pulsation or disturbance.

The Eddie rotary pump has a symmetrical structure and reversible conveying direction. Just change the driving direction, forward suction and reverse flushing can be achieved.Common faults of rotary pumps

Rotary pump has no flow or insufficient flow: low inlet pressure. Check the inlet pipeline to ensure that the pressure meets the specified requirements, otherwise cavitation may occur; Entrance pipeline blockage; The rotor is severely worn and there is leakage; Safety valve issue. Check if the safety valve is not tightly sealed; Low rotational speed; The viscosity is too low. It is necessary to verify the working range of the pump and reselect it if necessary.

Abnormal vibration and noise of the rotary pump: large eccentricity of the coupling or poor lubrication; There is gas inside the pump; Motor malfunction; Poor installation at the shaft seal; Shaft deformation or wear.

Sudden shutdown of rotary pump: power outage; Motor overload protection; Coupling damage; Excessive export pressure leads to a chain reaction.
